Washington District of Columbia Area Snipers
Sometimes it's hard to understand what motivates certain crimes of violence. This particular crime spree is one
of the most difficult to understand.

More than three weeks of terror culminated October 24 with the early morning arrest of two men at a Maryland
rest stop, ending a wave of attacks that had turned suburban gas stations and strip malls into hunting grounds. Authorities
say John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo (pictured, right to left) shot and killed individuals in Montgomery, Alabama, and
Baton Rouge, Louisiana, then headed northeast and, beginning October 2, randomly gunned down 10 victims and wounded four others
in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
