As a young man I spent eight years as a member of the Boy Scouts of America. There I was indoctrinated with some pretty good
ideas. I think you'll find these principles to be very similar to those listed above.
It's also pretty hard to argue against any of them with the possible exception of "reverent" which may offend
an agnostic or atheist.
Scout Law
A scout is trustworthy, helpful, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Scout Oath
On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other
people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, Mentally awake, and morally straight.
